I wanted to leave a comment saying how meaningful "Billy The Kid" was to me. I saw the film at the South By Southwest Film Festival and walked away in tears.
My brother was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome a few years ago. I knew within the first few frames of the movie that Billy had the same condition. It was so amazing to see the similarities and so reaffirming to find out that he was also diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.
You made a film filled with hope and humanity and I applaud you. It was especially touching for me because I have such a closeness with Asperger's in my life. It is so important for this film to get out into the world. I wish you all the luck I can muster.
Condition Agent Martha Walz, the primary sponsor with the anti-bullying invoice approved last week simply by single votes within the Massachusetts Residence as well as Us senate, stated she got discomfort in order to draft any invoice that would address an epidemic of bullying - on the web and or else - and protect the initial Amendment privileges of students. The lady pored on the laws and regulations regarding additional says and browse several federal government circumstances.“That was obviously a really substantial issue associated with my own - that we do not trample on the city rights of students,’’ mentioned Walz, any Boston Democrat as well as House chairwoman of the Joint Board about Schooling.
“I’m not black, I’m not white, not foreign…just different in the mind – different brains, that’s all…” explains 15 year-old Billy in Jennifer Venditti’s provocative coming of age film. Billy's intuitive commentary and intimate verité footage reveal a unique attitude as he responds to a painful childhood, first time love, and his experience as an outsider in small town Maine. By turns humorous and disturbing, this portrait challenges the viewer to look beyond labels and contemplate the future of a teen still in the process of becoming.
